As the nation starts to emerge out of the challenges of the Coronavirus pandemic, we at Adavu are turning our thoughts on reasons to celebrate – and we have one very good reason to! The Birmingham Methodist District’s Adavu Project was formed in 2011 and over the past 10 years has evolved into a significant voice and valuable post-NRM service in the field of tackling modern slavery and human trafficking.
So, our plan is to hold a special 10-year anniversary towards the end of this year, celebrating all that we have achieved and developed. But it will also be an event to sing the praises of the strength and resilience of our clients as we walk alongside them in their journey of rebuilding their lives.
We will forming a small task group of clients to help us plan this event but please do let us know if you have any great ideas on the design of this 10-year milestone party!
It must also be said, however, that the work of Adavu costs money and as the Coronavirus wanes, so too are the funds and sources of finance that once supported our work.
But we are always ready for a challenge and so Adavu is putting out a call to all those keen and would-be runners who would like to take part in the fantastic Great Birmingham Run on 10th October 2021!
Could you please think about running and raising funds for Adavu this year? As the Project Manager I ran it in 2017 and was able to raise over £600 and it would be so wonderful if we could gather together a team of around 10 or so people to join me as I do it again! The event was so fun and the atmosphere so celebratory and encouraging, that I really enjoyed it. There is also the 10K run happening at the same event so if you would prefer a shorter distance, then please join us on this distance. I promise you that it will be a great day, and a great incentive to get active, lose a few of the those lockdown pounds, and enjoy the feeling of raising money for a great cause!
