We have been receiving a flurry of new client referrals recently, all of whom are highly traumatised. From supporting men and women who have just escaped their trauma to enter the National Referral Mechanism, to those on the long and challenging road to building a fulfilled and independent life – all are moving forward little by little. We supported one client to successfully move into their own flat last week and we are helping another to secure alternative accommodation. Although Adavu supports survivors through one-to-one casework all week, the distress (and sometimes horror) upon hearing their stories and trauma does not dissipate for us. Hats off to the bravery and resilience of our survivors.
